Rise and Shine with Sunbird!

Your destiny dwells within your soul. When you unlock your mind and let go of the negatives that hold you back, you can create space in yourself for your purest positives and potential to emerge. Begin it now, with the Sunbird sequence.

The breath body link is Third Eye Opening. As you connect with this center for insight and soul realization, you start to feel as though you are releasing all the busyness and worry from your mind with the extension of your arms. Upon drawing back to center, they bring a sense of clarity and calm.

Cat rolling is a moment of pleasure and release. Rolling through the spine and letting go of any tension you hold there. You can feel the sun warming your body as you stretch and savor this motion. Flowing into downward dog extends this luxurious moment while tending the needs of your spine.

Sunbird lift is a glorious and confident pose. With open chest, upturned face and lifted leg, the moment feels celebratory! As you open into gate, feel as though you are beaming all of that joyous energy into space. Sharing the happiness you have attained through this sequence.

Let go of the mind, let the body move to the music of the breath,” Kate says.

Sunbird bow is a moment to regain calm composure. It may be difficult to lower slowly into the pose, but your body will relax and enjoy the brief rest as your head settles into the grounding energy of the earth. Inhale fully and use the strength you’ve gained to lift from the bow.

One-legged down dog allows you to draw from the strength within as you lift higher. This may be a difficult. Focus on the strength and power of your grounding leg and center of your body. Have faith in your own abilities as you rise through this moment. Even if you were to lower back to the ground, celebrate how far you’ve travelled towards this posture! If you wobble or it is a struggle, envision yourself getting stronger. If you rose with fluidity and grace, bask in your moment in the sun!

Savasana is a moment to experience the openness you have created in your spirit. The realization that being critical only creates clutter in the mind and holds you back from your true purpose. Stay open, celebrate this moment, and look forward to more! The text of the Bhagavad Gita reminds us “a gift is pure when it is given from the heart… when we expect nothing in return.” This is the pure gift of the sunbird: a moment to open the heart with no further expectation than to expand our capacity to forgive.
